| Photography by Jonathan Ley | Belize | Caracol

Caracol is a Mayan site deep in the western hills of Belize. In its prime, it was a major Mayan center. In modern times, it was only rediscovered in the 1930s. The site has been partially restored, and features the largest (by volume) Mayan temple anywhere.
