Waldo Lake is considered one of the clearest lakes in the world. On a calm sunny day, you can see up to 120ft down. Waldo is also a large lake - 9.8 square miles with a maximum depth of 427ft. It's location near the Cascade Crest means that it doesn't get a lot of inflow from surface streams, so the water is low in nutrients. That's what keeps the water so clear...
