Well, I didn’t really see all of this movie… but I did see enough to know that it’s really really awful! There are a bunch of occassions where the girls seem to be thinking “what the hell am I doing?” just before delivering their absurdly dumb lines. Also, I find it really odd & ironic that these “great detectives” can’t even figure out who their boss is… is that supposed to be part of the joke?

Vanilla Sky
I think I’ve decided that Tom Cruise movies are OK if you don’t see two of them back-to-back. This was a lot better than I thought it would be – lots of interesting direction & scenes that just leave you confused. What if you were trapped in a dream? What if that dream became a nightmare? Ok, so I’ve just ruined the whole “surprise ending”… sorry. I had the good fortune of having no idea what the plot was before I saw this. If you just read this, I guess you won’t be so lucky. This movie was based on an original Spanish Movie (don’t recall the name), I’d like to see the original.
There’s Something About Cameron Diaz
er… Mary. I really wanted to hate this movie since everybody thought it was SO funny. But, despite my most cynical efforts, I didn’t. It was pretty funny. It wasn’t the funniest or best movie I ever saw, but it was worth watching. I didn’t get too much out of the physical humor (like the dog stuff, or the “hair gel”). The characters were just all believable… yet at the same time unbelievable. My favorite had to be Warren. I think what made this movie work best was how nothing was “forgotten” or left hanging. Everything which happened in the movie had something to do with the plot, and it all flowed really well.
The Mask
Jim Carrey’s “breakthrough” movie (and Cameron Diaz’s too). He is good in this movie, but I think the success of this certainly contributed to his current annoying personality…. and for that, the Mask can not be forgiven.
The Gangs of New York
A really rich and stylish film. It didn’t matter too much that there were a couple plot-holes and things which happened “for no reason”. I didn’t find it overly-violent either. Yes, it was violent, but they didn’t present the violence as the “focus” of the various scenes.
