Almost forgot about this one. I love the scene where they try to describe their “sound”. This movie says a lot more about “rock and roll” than “Almost Famous” (see below). This is how it really is. Ok, it wasn’t grand cinema or anything, but it’s always better to laugh with a movie than laugh at it.

Ghost World
Have you ever seen those silly beer ads that end with the quote “true”, like the ad has shown something you’re nodding your head to? Screw those ads, this movie was “true”. Any film that features songs by the Buzzcocks and Skip James is just beyond true. I especially liked the ending… because nothing ever is truly resolved.
Fargo
If you’re from rural Minnesota, I have news from you – you DO talk like that. Everyone I meet from MN says this movie picks on them unfairly “we don’t talk like that”, they say. They oughta take a step back and listen sometime. As for the movie, I liked the way the hero was just a regular gal, and for that matter, everyone in the movie was just darn regular.
