Dettifoss
At the head of the canyon, the Jökulsá Á Fjöllum pours over a lip and produces what's called the most powerful waterfall in Europe - Dettifoss. The roar of the falls is overwhelming. The spray from the falls is visible from miles away - rising above the rolling empty landscape above the canyon. So much spray is lifted up that waterfalls are produced on the opposite wall of the canyon, fed by nothing other than the spray of Dettifoss.
