  • The Oregon Coast
Ecola View Northern Oregon Coast
The northern Oregon Coast is populated with wide beaches, jagged cliffs and seaside towns.

Pacific Loon Cape Lookout
Cape Lookout juts into the Pacific - a high solid cliff a mile into the ocean. A trail leads along the edge, to the top of the ocean.

Rufous Hummingbird Bayocean Spit
Someone once attempted to put a development on this sandy beach between Tillamook Bay and the Pacific. Eventually, all the homes were destroyed by natural forces. Today, it's a lovely beach on which to take a stroll.

Brookings Harbor Brookings
Brookings, Oregon is a quiet coastal town just north of the California border.

Last Rays of the Day Secret Beach
I could tell you where Secret Beach is, but then it wouldn't be a secret.

Sunset on the Beach Southern Oregon Coast
The southern Oregon coast is filled with all kinds of beautiful places.

Western Gull and chick Central Oregon Coast
Various locations along the central Oregon coast.

Up Cascade Head Cascade Head
Cascade Head is a headland just north of Lincoln City, and south of Neskowin. The land is owned and managed by the Nature Conservancy. The highlight of this area is a rare patch of coastal meadows, along the southern hillside. Un-developed habitats like this area rare, and home to a variety of rare species.

Black-footed Albatross Offshore
The Pacific Ocean is a huge territory to explore. While the waters might seem monotonous, they're teeming with life, and change character through the seasons and with the weather.

Heceta Head View Heceta Head
Heceta Head (heh-SEE-tah) is located about 20 minutes south of Yachats, OR, along the Oregon Coast.
The classic view of Heceta Head is along a roadside pullout, about a half-mile south of the lighthouse. If you stop there, be sure to look down the cliffs to spot Sea Lions.

Newport, Oregon Newport
Newport, Oregon is located on the central Oregon coast. Newport has a lot to offer, from the historic and picturesque marina, to a great aquarium, to spectacular coastal views.

Pulling It In Seal Rock
Seal Rock State Wayside is located along the Oregon Coast, just north of Waldport, OR.
Check the tides. If you want to see tide pools, your best bet is during low tide. And not all low tides are created equally. Look up an annual tide chart to find the lowest tides of the season...

Keeping Watch Yaquina Head
Yaquina Head (Yah-KWIN-uh) is just a few miles north of Newport, Oregon... on the Oregon Coast, of course.
There is an entrance fee to visit the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. It is administered by the BLM.
